1. Basic Infertility Workup:

Being an advanced infertility treatment centre places us in an unique position to offer quality services, right from basic workup of a couple anxious to conceive! Many a time, the couple may just require some changes in their lifestyle or just coital advice for them to conceive. After all, a pregnancy is just about the sperm being in the right place at the right time !

Infertility affects about 10% of any population of eligible couples ,and is defined as 'an a inability to conceive within a year of unprotected vaginal intercourse'.
Investigations for any couple entering into an infertility program generally revolves around answering the following questions:-

1. Are there enough healthy sperms ?
2. Is an egg being released ?
3. Can the egg and sperm meet ?
4. Can the egg implant ?
5. Is age a detrimental factor ? After the age of 35 years, the quality of eggs keeps getting poorer, reducing markedly after the age of 40 years.

2. Sonography:

We have our own sonography machine for gynaec sonography and follicle studies,which saves the clients daily visits to a sonography clinic separate from visits to the fertility clinic.Since we do follicular studies personally,we are in a position to make instant decisions regarding treatment or any modifications thereof, which is a big help to clients.

3. Andrology Clinic :

Nearly 40 % of all fertility problems are due to the male factor, a fact that most males find difficult to digest , especially in this country.Though times are changing , there is still resistance to investigating the male partner when a couple comes for fertility problems. Considering the magnitude of the male factor problem in infertility cases, the male partner also needs to be investigated at the same time as the female partner. We have a facility for investigating and counseling male patients and also have tied up with an Andrologist on an “on call” basis, which reduces the strain and discomfort of traveling to the client couple.

4. Endocrine Evaluation :

Similarly, we have an Endocrine specialist on an a “on call” basis for those couples who require specialist attention for endocrine problems.

5. Semen Freezing :

This facility available at our centre is a boon especially for those couples where the male partner may not always be around at the time of ovulation (outstation postings,traveling jobs …). Use of freezing in these situations gives the much awaited results without the delay of waiting , or the frustration of dropouts in treatment cycles.

6. Artificial Insemination:

This simple and effective mode of ensuring sperm entry into the fallopian tube at the time of ovulation improves the couples chances of conception by about 15 -20 %. It may be done if

  a.there is low sperm count or poorly motile sperms.
  b.cervical antibodies are present
  c.there is cervical mucus deficiency.
  d.there is unexplained infertility.

Our centre has its own lab for sperm washing and preparation and we also ensure that the best quality media are in use to ensure that the results are comparable with the best centres elsewhere.

7. IVF – ICSI :

Our centre is equipped with state of the art equipment for the procedures of IVF – ICSI which have revolutionized the treatment of infertility everywhere. With these techniques, many unfortunate couples who were earlier branded untreatable, have successfully managed to “go home” with their own biological child, fulfilling their hopes and aspirations.

8. Recurrent Pregnancy Loss clinic:

One segment of our population consists of couples who manage to get pregnant but are unable to continue the pregnancy to term and have the recurrent trauma of repeated miscarriages.Our centre can investigate and treat such couples so that they ultimately “go home“ with their own baby. Being an Advanced Endoscopic Surgery Centre offering Hysteroscopic and Laparoscopic surgical procedures helps us treat these traumatized couples effectively and with a fair degree of success.

9. Advanced Reproductive Endoscopic Surgery:

Our centre is fully equipped to handle and manage all gynaecological endoscopic procedures. Many a time , the cause of infertility are due to some gynaec conditions requiring surgical intervention.While most centres do open surgery, results with endoscopic surgery have proven superior results which is why, worldwide, endoscopic surgery has practically replaced open surgery,especially in fertility enhancing surgery,where maintaining anatomic normalcy is of utmost importance. Gynaecological conditions like fibroids, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancies, polycystic ovaries, tubal anastomosis and surgery for Endometriosis are routinely carried out laparoscopically at our centre. Also, hysteroscopic surgery like polypectomy, myomectomy, septal incision, adhesiolysis and cannulation of blocked tubes which are routinely done at the centre give dramatic fertility enhancing results.

10. Donor Oocyte Program

In many women seeking help for conception the biological clock has already started ticking.
Along with the age of the women, the ovaries also age (become old) and hence there is a decrease in availability of eggs both in quantity and quality. Hence these patients either do not produce enough eggs with stimulation or produce poor quality eggs, which leads to poor quality embryo, which do not result on pregnancy or if pregnancy occurs have an increased tendency for abortion. Hence in such women (who can be identified) it may not be advisable to use their own eggs, but go for eggs from a healthy, young donor, which will be transferred to the patients uterus.

These donors are always screened for diseases and such pregnancy do not result in any complications.
Nirmiti Fertility & IVF Centre has a donor egg program in place for such couples who need to opt for donor oocytes. Many women who would otherwise be unable to conceive have managed to have children of their own, using this facility. Donors are usually women who have healthy children of their own and donote eggs for either economic reasons or on humanitarian grounds.

11. Embryo Freezing

Sometimes IVF cycles result in multiple embryos of which only a few are transferred into the uterus. After transferring the required no. of embryos, the remaining good embryos can now be stored for long periods of time for later use (if required). This is done by freezing the embryos and keeping them in cold storage. They can be thawed later at the time of use /need. This process offers multiple benefits to a couple undergoing IVF stimulation.

Stimulation can be avoided for a subsequent cycle.
Multiple cycles can be offered to the couple at a fraction of the cost of a fresh stimulated cycle.
stress of continuing IVF treatment can be reduced.

Results using frozen embryos vary in the region of 14-18 %.
