Case Study 1

Mr and Mrs XYZ (Wife : 42yrs, Husband : 48 yrs) were desperate for a child having being married for 17 long years. Both were depressed and had lost all hopes of having baby. Wife had undergone myomectomy (Removal of fibroids) 7 yrs back. But her present tests revealed she had 3 large fibroids (6 – 8 cms) and also had premature menopause. They even went for adoption as nobody had given them any hope. But unfortunately because of husband’s age they were refused adoption also.

Finally she was referred to us for guidance, when she was suggested IVF with donor eggs, for which both were thrilled and we did her hysteroscopy and found her cavity of uterus to be normal and free of fibroids. Her own younger sister aged 32 yrs agreed to be the egg donor. Her sister was given injections to stimulate ovaries and the same was used for ICSI with husband’s semen and were transferred on the 3rd day. Luckily, Wife became pregnant in the first cycle itself and she delivered a healthy male child. The couples joy had no bounds, and felt why this idea was not suggested by their earlier Gynaecologists when they were young

Case Study 2

Mr and Mrs LMN had a prolonged infertile history of 7 years. Wife had bad Endometriosis and blocked tubes. They approached us from Coimbatore. We at our clinic advised her to go for an ICSI cycle. She had undergone the same but her first cycle failed. But there were surplus embryos from the cycle & were frozen by using Vitrification method. Vitrification is the latest & most happening technique in embryo freezing.

After 3 months gap she was taken for frozen embryo transfer. She was given mild hormonal tablets and embryos were transferred on the 17th day of her cycle. She conceived in the cycle with her frozen embryos & presently she is in her 4th month of pregnancy.

Case Study 3

Mr. and Mrs. ABC from Hyderabad, were married for 4 years and waiting for a pregnancy, but when it did not occur naturally, they consulted an infertility specialist. The lady underwent a battery of tests, all of which were reported normal, subsequently a semen analysis revealed absence of sperm in the semen.  Even the testicular biopsy done at Hyderabad revealed no sperm & they lost hope of having their own biological child.

They presented at our clinic. Since his testis was looking normal our andrologist suggested we should get sperms from his testis and after counselling, husband agreed for a repeat testicular biopsy and to the patient’s benefit sperms could be retrieved and were frozen for future use. Subsequently his wife underwent an ICSI cycle with the frozen sperms at out clinic.

Case Study 4

Mr & Mrs. PQR (Male : 58, Female : 52 yrs) presented at our clinic with prolonged history of Infertility(22 years). They were under tremendous stress and had given up hopes of even having a child because of age. Again since there was no chance of adoption and seeing their desperation, we advised her to go for IVF – Donor Embryo Transfer after thorough counselling. In the first cycle itself, she conceived and subsequently carried the pregnancy to term and delivered healthy twins, one girl and boy who are doing well.

Case Study 5

Mr. & Mrs. EFG (Anna Francis) married since 10 years. Presented at our clinic with prolonged Infertility. Investigations revealed low sperm count in husband. We advised her ICSI cycle. She conceived in the first cycle itself.

Case Study 6

Mr. & Mrs. V married since 8 years. Trying hard to have a child were very depressed, lost hope of having a child. Tried few Artificial Insemination Cycle in another centre with no success. She had fibroids in her uterus, for which we advised her to undergo myomectomy In our clinic we did the best way to remove fibroids that is by laparoscopy, which is done for all surgeries.

After 3 months, we advised her to go for IUI cycle as husband’s sperm count was on the lower side. But because of her earlier failures in other centre with IUI, they wanted to go for ICSI, which we did and she conceived in the very first cycle. Her pregnancy is going quite nicely.

Case Study 7

Mr. & Mrs. RST  married for 8 years approached us after 3 earlier abortions in the first 3 months of pregnancy. She had no periods for 1 year. After going through battery of tests we did hysteroscopy which revealed intrauterine adhesions, which were cut in our centre by hysteroscopy. After 3 months she started getting menses. But her desire for pregnancy could not be met because the uterine lining (Endometrium) never became healthy because of earlier damage. Since her ovaries were functioning normally, we suggested her to go for surrogacy (where her embryos will be transferred to another healthy women’s uterus), which will have excellent chances. The couple readily agreed as the husband was being forced by his mother to go in for 2nd marriage.

We told them to search for a surrogate mother and to their luck one of the relative agreed to be the surrogate. Wife was stimulated with medicines after her cycle was matched with that of the surrogate. Oocytes taken out from the her were treated with her husband’s sperm by IVF and the resultant embryos were transferred to the surrogate’s uterus. To the great joy of the couple, pregnancy occurred in her first attempt and the surrogate is in the 9th month of pregnancy.
